They Mean Well…

I’m sure there are many of you who thought you were perfectly content in your singleness. You come and go as you please, and can be sloppy for days at a time because you only have yourself to answer to. Life is good. That is, until your BFF’s get a hold of you. Don’t get me wrong, they are concerned, loving, and caring people who only have your best interest at heart. They know how miserable and lonely you really are and think you are so brave to try and not show it. They talk in hushed whispers behind your back, and look at you like they’ve just been told you have only six months to live, but you have no clue. No matter what you say, it falls on deaf ears. The greatest definition of love

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

“The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves.” William Penn

Can anyone say, with complete honesty, that he or she has never experienced jealousy? Be careful how you answer, for if you are still warm and have a pulse, chances are very good that sometime in your life you have been jealous of either someone, or something. Many confuse jealousy with love. They think if they are jealous of their partner, it expresses love. This could not be further from the truth. Jealousy is an emotion that has nothing to do with love. It is an emotion based on fear. This fear comes from being insecure with oneself.
